A fire blanket is an excellent tool for fighting fire. It is designed to extinguish local fires, i.e. pan fires or burning carpets. A fire blanket is made of fire retardant glass fiber and packed into a special bag. For more convenient use it has two pull down tails visible from outside the packaging. It is very effective for extinguishing both oil/fat fires and burning household appliances or human clothing.

For a fire to burn, all three elements of the fire triangle must be present: heat, fuel and oxygen. The fire blanket is used to cut off the oxygen supply to the fire, thereby putting it out. Cover the fire with the fire blanket, and it will help cut the oxygen supply and extinguish the fire. The fire blanket must be sealed closely to a solid surface around the fire.

When extinguishing burning oil/fat, it is strictly forbidden to use water!
If even a small amount of water can cause the fire flaring up to the ceiling.
